Panel discussion on Eastern European series

Eastern European drama is currently demonstrating a strong tendency to the rise: more and more outstanding series are receiving prestigious awards (including Emmy), participating in international festivals, and getting worldwide distribution on TV and VoD platforms.
On September 14 at 15:30-16:20, join Come Together! Eastern European drama
presentation and panel discussion supported by Ukraine TV Channel. During the talk, speakers will highlight the recent success stories and discuss the specific features of Eastern European drama. They will also talk about the ways of cooperation, coproduction, and distribution shows worldwide. 

Specifically for KMW, Kamila Zlatušková, the founder and CEO of Serial Killer international festival (Czech Republic), will present an overview of the Eastern European drama and also moderate the discussion.

Sharing the mutual cultural background and particularities of the historic neighborhood, the local industries of Eastern Europe have a lot in common. From a long-term perspective, having similar aims as content market assertiveness and overcoming the competition with the transnational media corporations, producers of the territory may unite their efforts right now. Experts will consider the points of convergence and outline possible realistic collaborative strategies of the content industry, particularly drama production and delivery.

Kamila Zlatušková, the founder and CEO of Serial Killer international festival. In her past, Kamila worked at Czech Television, including four years as Creative Producer, when she was appointed Assistant Dean at the Film and TV Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (or FAMU), she ran her production company Telepunk. Serial Killer is an international meeting point for professionals, academics, and viewers who define and motivate the drama production. The program includes screenings and competitions, discussions, lectures, and networking. The festival wants to show that series can effectively and efficiently reflect modern trends, the development in society, and modern lives.  

Nebojša Taraba is CEO (producer and partner) of the leading Croatian independent production company Drugi Plan in Zagreb. Drugi Plan has worked with all three Croatian national TV stations (HRT, Nova TV, RTL) and created and produced more than 15 original formats in all genres. For the last 8 years, the company has specialized in documentary and high-end drama productions. Their TV series The Paper was picked up by Netflix and now is available for streaming in 190 countries. The company also produces a documentary film and series Love Around The World (co-pro with Authentic for Arte), drama series Silence (for HRT and Oll.tv Ukraine, co-pro with Beta Film, Germany, and Star Media). Drugi plan has also produced the first HBO Europe series in the Adria region, premiered at the beginning of 2019, entitled Success.

Wiktor Piątkowski, screenwriter and producer, Ph.D.established BAHAMA FILMS, based in Warsaw. The company works mostly on international projects, specializing in script development of film and TV projects. Wiktor Piątkowskicreated and co-wrote HBO's first original series produced in Poland, Wataha (eng. The Pack or The Border distributed worldwide by ZDF Enterprises); over the last 8 years, he has worked as showrunner, head writer, screenwriter, and producer on various shows (crime series, soap opera, scripted reality, sitcom) for companies from Germany, Austria, Norway, Italy, Denmark, Belgium, and Poland. A sitcom he co-created and co-wrote (Just Push Abuba)  premiered on ZDF. His filmography for the last 3 years includes producing TV series (Nie z tej ziemi dramaty) as well as short (Reset) and documentary movies (Over the Mountains). He is also a member of the Dirty Dozen Collective, the Polish Filmmakers Association (SFP), and the Polish Screenwriters' Association. 

Olesya Lukyanenko, creative producer at the leading Ukrainian production company FILM.UA Group, with over 12 years of experience in creating, developing, and producing of drama-series in different genres. The titles include: And there will be peopleHide and SeekStep DanThe Wrong Man (in development). The detective noir drama Hide and Seek (distributor ZDF Enterprises)  has been sold to plenty of territories worldwide wide, and presented at MIPDrama Buyers Summit,  Série Series,  KYIV MEDIA WEEK,  Serial Killer, MIA Summit, SERIENCAMP, and Göteborg Film Festival.

Iryna Chernyak, Director of TV Content Sales Department at Media Group Ukraine.  Director of Content Acquisition at TV channel 'Ukraine'Iryna is an experienced TV executive – over 16 years in the industry. Currently, she is in charge of acquisitions of the ready-made content and formats for the Ukraine Channel and distribution of in-house produced titles of Media Group Ukraine, which are already available in more than 100 territories and all the continents. Iryna is also developing a new direction of international series co-production. Previously, she was engaged in sales and acquisitions of TV content in Ukrainian and international media companies. For several years, Iryna had been the sales director of the ready-made content at Endemol Worldwide Distribution for CIS, Baltic and Balkan countries.

Ukraine TV Channel is the country's leading national TV channel and a long-standing partner of KMW. According to the results of the first half of 2021, it ranks 1st in the ranking of national channels by main audiences – 18+ (cities 50 thousand +), 4+ ("All Ukraine"). For the audience of 18+ (50 thousand +), the share of the channel was 12.66%, the rating – 2.16%, and for the audience of 4+ ("All Ukraine"), the share reached 11, 71%, rating – 1.84%. The TV channel presents various genres of television content: new programs, social talk shows, TV series, entertainment projects, football broadcasts. The channel's program grid is based on series of various genres, and the channel is actively developing the direction of major prime-time shows. In 2021, the premiere of The Masked Singer show had great success. The channel is successfully developing international content distribution: its shows and series are now available in more than 100 territories and on Amazon.
